The Littliest Prayer Warrior

Once again, a dear friend has expressed life through gratitude. Please enjoy!

Blaine's Mommy has a dear friend named Tom Quarles or as he is lovingly known, T.Q. He was a co-worker of Jere's when she worked at Clear Channel Broadcasting. He is one of those increasingly rare breeds who everybody loves and enjoys knowing. Somebody everyone is happy to call "friend".

About two years ago, T.Q. was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Utilizing some new medicine, his cancer went into remission. Two weeks ago T.Q. noticed a lump on the side of his neck. The cancer had spread to his lymph nodes. The doctors told him there was one small chance with another new med.

Blaine listened carefully that morning when Jere told me about this latest sad news of T.Q. As is his custom before his nap, Blaine said his prayer which is pretty much by rote. But, this day was different. Just before that 'amen' he pled, "Dear Jesus, our friend T.Q. is very sick and the doctor says he has a new medicine. But Jesus, if it doesn't work can T.Q. come to heaven and live with you?"

Needless to say, neither of us had a dry eye. My pride in this 'little hero' continues to grow as does he. I have known people I considered prayer warriors but none this tiny. Oh how I wish all of us had the insight, the compassion, the faith, and the love of this little five year old. The world would be a better place if we had more prayer warriors of all ages.

Please folks, remember T.Q. in your prayers.
